SX460
SX460 Automatic Voltage Regulator
The SX460 is a half-wave automatic voltage regulator for self-excited Stamford alternators, using single-phase sensing at 190–264 V. It holds output voltage within ±1% and is fitted to BC, UC and S0L1 frame machines. It is not suitable for PMG-excited alternators, which require an MX-series regulator.

Questions about this part
Is the SX460 interchangeable with the SX440?
They are closely related and share a mounting footprint, but the SX440 has a wider sensing range and different terminal allocation. Confirm the alternator frame and the existing wiring before substituting one for the other.
Why does my new SX460 give no output?
Most often the alternator has lost residual magnetism, which the regulator needs to begin building voltage. Flashing the field restores it. If output still does not build, check the rotating rectifier diodes before assuming the regulator is faulty.
